Sprawling Hyundai manufacturing plant in a quiet southeast Georgia community became ground zero on Thursday for one of the most extensive immigration raids in recent US history.
A major immigration raid, considered one of the most extensive in recent US history, took place at a Hyundai manufacturing plant in southeast Georgia, resulting in the arrest of 475 individuals, predominantly Korean nationals. Following the operation, South Korea's President Lee Jae Myung instructed officials to undertake "all-out necessary measures" to support the affected Korean nationals. Ambassador Cho stated his readiness to travel to Washington, DC, to engage directly with US officials to resolve the issue.
An on-site response team, including the Korean Ambassador to the US and the Consul General in Atlanta, is assessing countermeasures to ensure the protection of their citizens' rights and the economic activities of Korean businesses investing in the US against perceived unfair violations.
